Where the numbers come from
  • Yearly cost. Worked out from the payments, the way federal lending rules (Regulation Z, Appendix J) work out an APR. The calculator runs in your browser. How it's worked out.
  • Comparisons. 1,763 real deals and offerings: 271 capital offers from Square, Shopify, Stripe, PayPal and other platforms (109 businesses), 212 cash advances from other funders and 10 bank and SBA loans, nearly all disclosed in public SEC filings, plus 1,270 loans, bonds and revenue-share notes offered or sold through small-business crowdfunding. Offers reported on forums and blogs or in filings that leave a figure unclear, and offers people enter here (which count only once they're tied to an account), are shown separately.
  • Privacy. No single offer is ever shown, only typical figures and ranges for groups of at least five businesses. See the privacy page.
